Observing Molluscum
Contagiosum
One common treatment for molluscum is no treatment at
all.
Often times after a visit to the pediatrician, one of the
recommendations is that no treatment is necessary and that the
molluscum will eventually resolve on their own. This in
fact is true as spontaneous resolution in almost certain in an
otherwise healthy individual.
Individual lesions tend to last from 2 to 4 months each and
the duration of the infection as a whole may last 2
years. Two years can be a long time to wait, particulary
if there a lot of bumps present however and it may be
beneficial to pursue one of the other molluscum treatments.
One big advantage of observation is that it avoids any of
the potential scarring (both physical and emotional) that may
results from more aggressive therapy.
